Battersea - London
This project centred on reimagining a one-bedroom flat in Battersea for a single professional, elevating the existing space through considered, design-led interventions rather than a full overhaul. Working closely with what the client already owned, the approach was to refine, layer, and recompose: bringing a new sense of sophistication and comfort without erasing familiarity.
The concept took its cue from an unlikely source: a small, well-worn orange rug the client already owned. Though too tired to make it into the final scheme, its colour told a story about her instincts and taste. That burnt orange became the thread from which the entire palette was pulled: warm browns, creamy neutrals, and soft greens, with orange re-emerging through new pieces; fresher, but faithful to her original spirit.
The design language draws from Scandinavian simplicity (clean lines, light wood tones, and an uncluttered calm) softened with bohemian warmth through layered textures, abundant greenery, and carefully chosen artwork. The result is a quietly feminine interior: confident rather than decorative, curated rather than cluttered.
A rich forest green feature wall anchors the living space, providing a bold counterpoint to the neutral palette of soft creams, warm browns, and pale timber. Burnt orange accents thread through the scheme, from cushions to cabinetry, adding vitality without disrupting the overall calm. In the bathroom, spa-inspired styling transforms a functional space into a moment of quiet retreat.
By prioritising reuse and considered styling over replacement, the flat was transformed into a more elevated and harmonious home, with a character that feels entirely its own. A reminder that impactful design doesn't always require starting from scratch.
